Blog content
Out of all types of content, I have the most experience with blog posts, whether writing, editing, or optimizing them for SEO. Please see the Content Management tab for more info on everything I’ve with blogs done besides writing them. Keep reading to check out a couple examples of blogs I’ve written:
SEO Blog
The Assignment
Write an article optimized for the keyword “OKR vs KPI”. Include related keywords and interlink to existing articles already published in the topic cluster (product management metrics), including but not limited to the pillar page, which should be linked in the first paragraph.
Incorporate existing assets and brief the graphic designer on new concepts that illustrate the concepts (see “OKR S’more” and “An Ocean of Metrics”). Embed relevant expert quotes and embed videos from branded podcasts, webinars, and conferences. Create tables comparing the two key concepts and common mistakes. Lastly, add CTAs linking for free existing resources, like the OKR template to generate leads.
The Challenges
Blogs always need to use clear language, and blogs that are written with the express intent of differentiating two overlapping topics need to be crystal clear. Related keywords and anchor text, essential to rank on Google, should be incorporated naturally. Combing through hundreds of videos and podcast quotes to find expert insights that are the most relevant and authoritative needs to be done efficiently. When it comes to conversion opportunities, including resources that add value and have the highest chance of connecting with the reader is key.
The Results
The article ranked within the top three results within a few months of its publication. Traffic was commensurate with the total estimated search volume, and conversions outperformed expectations, often exceeding 90 monthly downloads.
B2b blog
The Assignment
Write an article explaining how digital publishers can use data analytics to increase their distribution on Google Discover and increase traffic to their sites. Specifically, encourage individual journalists to identify the topics that already performed well on Google Discover and create more content related to those topics where they already had established authority.
The Challenge
Translate Google’s content guidelines and other rather advanced SEO concepts for an editorial audience.
The Results
This piece became one of the most-read articles on the client’s site. At least one customer wrote to his account manager to ask for more like it.
